Maximo: How to publish Actuate eSpreadsheet Report including parameters PDF Print E-mail

Actuate’s eSpreadsheet is a valuable addition to IBM Maximo Asset Management. It allows you to run reports from within Maximo that open in Excel so that they can be modified to meet multiple reporting needs. The one thing that is lacking in Maximo’s documentation is how to publish eSpreadsheet reports with Parameters.

Specify parameters, export and import to Actuate

When designing and running a report from within eSpreadsheet designer you can specify Parameters and enter them and the report will run with the specified parameters. However, when you publish the report to IBM Maximo  and configure the report parameters in Report Administration, you will notice that you receive the prompts for the parameters but they actually do not work, instead it uses the Parameter values that you placed in the design of the report.

This is due to the fact that the Report Parameters have to be exported from within eSpreadsheet in the form of an *.rop file and then imported into Actuate from the Administrative Console.  Once you complete this import, regenerate your Report XML through the Report Administration in Maximo and run your report. You will now see that your parameters are working.
